Before The Show

CEO Lamar Hoke Jr, producer Director and Writer of the musical “Back On The Boards” and his wonderful wife-co-founder, Development Director, and Associate Producer Josette Hoke, says “It’s done in 2010 we won.” Special thanks to our musical director David Crawford. “Back On The Boards” opened Oct 11th, at The Wilshire Ebell and was a great show.

It’s too early to roll the ending credits, but we at L’Art Foundation would like to thank Lakisha Jones for her time and talent, and all the rest of a great cast and crew. Thank you Ahmed Hoke-Art Director, Pat Loeb our Stage Manager, Bob-The Ebells Stage Manager, all our sponsors and the guys over at SIR.

Showtime

L’Art Foundation would like to thank all of our hard working headliners, cast members, technical support, publicists and sponsors for making the show Back On The Boards possible.

Our mission is always to provide educational opportunity for disadvantaged youth, and proceeds from ticket sales go directly towards that goal. Given the current state of our educational system here in the U.S that should be a number one priority, and we are thankful to have a chance to uplift our communities. Remember that love educates, and we’ll see you at the show- it’s guaranteed to be a smash!

Welcome American Idol Finalist Lakisha Jones

Lakisha

American Idol Season 6 Finalist Lakisha Jones has signed on to perform in the dynamic stage play and musical Back On The Boards! October 11th is shaping up to be an incredible day for L’Art Foundation, The Wilshire Ebell, and the city of Los Angeles as we all get a chance to witness a major talent shine alongside our gifted and dedicated cast!

Tickets are on sale now, here at lartfoundation.org and the Wilshire Ebell box office, so get ready-cause it’s showtime!

Best known to millions of TV viewers as a top four finalist during the 2007 season of “American Idol,” the singer is ready to reclaim center stage—this time with her first solo album. “So Glad I’m Me” on Elite Music, LLC debuts May 19. “So Glad I’m Me” resonates from start to finish, propelled by Jones’ expressive, full-bodied vocals. It’s the same arresting voice that electrified “American Idol” viewers with the “Dreamgirls” showstopper “And I Am Telling You” and later commanded the Broadway stage in Oprah Winfrey’s Tony Award-winning musical “The Color Purple.” Whether Jones is delivering a gut-tugging ballad, a beat-infused party jam or a spiritual uplift, her voice never loses its soul-stirring fervor.

Colin and Alma Powell Fight The Dropout Rate

Education

Colin and Alma Powell’s Americas Promise Alliance have just named their 100 Best Communities for Young People List. Sacramento and Oklahoma city were among the 37 cities that made the cut. On a recent MSNBC appearance they spoke on the 50% minority dropout rate, so called dropout factories and the $335 billion in lost wages, taxes and productivity the 2009 dropout class will cost the U.S.

L’Art Foundation fully supports the efforts of the APA and is also committed to reversing this alarming trend in our schools. Remember The Campaign!
